ITIN Certifying Acceptance Agent (CAA)

An ITIN is a tax processing number issued by the IRS to certain resident and nonresident aliens, their spouses, or dependents. It is available to persons required to have a taxpayer identification number for federal tax purposes but who do not have, and are not eligible to obtain a Social Security Number (SSN).

A Certifying Acceptance Agent (CAA) is authorized by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), to assist alien individuals and other foreign persons, who are ineligible or unable to receive Social Security Number (SSN), in obtaining an ITIN (Individual Taxpayer Identification Number) from the IRS. In addition, a CCA is also authorized to submit a Form W-7 on behalf of an applicant, without having to furnish the original documents that support foreign status and identity.

Advantages of using Jain Consulting LLC Certified Acceptance Agent (CAA)

  1. Jain Consulting LLC is a CAA for ITIN and will help to process ITINs primarily for H1-B, L1 and F-1 visa holders’ families & foreign authors, overseas investors, etc.
  2. This means that we have signed a contract with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) ITIN office
  3. We are authorized agents by IRS ITIN office and we can issue Certificate of Accuracy (CoA) letter which means you do not have to ship your original documents anywhere.
  4. The CoA letter is issued when the taxpayer presents original passport or passport copies certified by the foreign issuing agency to the CAA.
  5. The CAA has the authority to accept or deny the documents presented. If the CAA is satisfied, only then will the CAA issue the COA letter.
  6. “No” original Passport or certified copy of passport needed to be mailed to IRS for Spouse.
  7. This is unlike an Acceptance Agent (AA) or ITIN application prepared by the taxpayer or other where you must send the original and/or certified copies to IRS
  8. For any dependent, original passport or certified copies from the foreign issuing agency must be provided and mailed to the IRS, along with our COA letter, prepared tax return, and ITIN application(s)
  9. The CAA also prepares and signs the ITIN application and the COA letter
  10. If any issue arises with the ITIN application prepared by the CAA, it can be resolved relatively quickly. Otherwise, it may take up to 6 months should you prepare it yourself
  11. We are listed at the IRS website: Certified Acceptance Agent

There are two categories of documentation:

  1. Supporting Identification Documentation – Proves “foreign status”, “identity” and, if applicable, “residency”.
  2. Exception Documentation – Proves that an exception to the requirement to attach a valid U.S. federal individual income tax return to Form W-7 is met.

The list of documents ITIN applicants might use to prove their identities include:

We offer complete ITIN service to include the preparation of the following forms:

  1. Form W-7, Application for Individual Tax Payer Identification Number
  2. Form W-7, (COA) Certificate of Accuracy for IRS individual Taxpayer Identification Number , along with required identity documentation.

To renew an ITIN, an individual must submit a W-7 application package to the IRS. The package consists of Form W-7, Certificate of Accuracy for IRS Individual Identification Taxpayer Number, and numerous documents verifying the authenticity of the applicant. Taxpayers can submit their application package through us Certifying Acceptance Agent (CAA), by mail, or in person at a designated IRS service center.
